Movie Nights: Week in review 7.12-7.18

We took the easy route this week and watched some of our favorites.

Game Night (2018)

Game night really made us laugh more than a few times, obviously it is not a horror movie but it has some darker themes and twists that make this comedy thriller worth watching. Jason Bateman and Rachael McAdams have really good chemistry and are funny together making the vibes feel more organic. This movie tells the story of a game night that gets a little out of control. As with any comedy its a little silly but if you keep that in mind and don’t let it bother you it is a fun ride.

Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022)

This one is so much fun. It is clever and well written and has original characters even some LGBTQ representations which is always a plus. All the actors do a good job and it feels like real people. Amandla Stenberg and Maria Bakalova especially kill it because we actually ended up hating them both (in a fun to watch way). The plot has some fun dark twists and turns that keep you on your toes. Pete Davidson being a rich kid douchebag was pretty hilarious to watch. Great if you’re in the mood for something humorous but intense.

Vivaruim (2019)

This is one of our absolute favorites! This movie will get into your head and crawl under your skin. It’s one of the most original horror movies in our opinion, very strange vibes throughout. Great acting, we love Imogen Poots and Jesse Eisenberg so watching them go through this hell together was great. Senan Jennings does such an amazing job being incredibly frustrating and off putting. Vivarium has such a frustrating and intriguing plot that you can’t stop watching. There are a lot of unknowns and it makes the situation they’re in so frightening. Definitely worth a watch if you’re looking for something that will get you thinking and stick with you.

The Fly (1986)

We always forget how good this movie is! Our main man Jeff kills it, him and Geena Davis do a great job and have good chemistry together which makes the movie more relatable. It’s a great sci-fi horror movie, perfect if you’re in the mood for some body horror. The effects are beyond incredible, they look so repulsive and realistic. It took almost five hours to apply the most extensive makeup stages to Jeff towards the end of the film. On top of all that the plot is great, it' is a very entertaining story. The Fly is a truly fantastic film.

The Faculty (1998)

The Faculty: We’re obsessed with this movie! This is not the first time nor the last time this will be on our Movie Nights! It is such a childhood favorite and comfort movie, it is super fun and nostalgic! We love Josh Hartnett, Elijah Wood, Jon Stewart and Salma Hayek the most but it’s such a solid cast all around. It has such an awesome storyline and it feels super fall because it’s the beginning of the school year which we love. Perfect if you’re looking for that teen vibe wth some humor.

Talk to me (2022)

If somehow you haven’t seen this by now do not watch a trailer and just watch it. We love it more each time we watch it. We love it from start to finish which is so rare in horror so we are obsessed. We felt so strongly about the characters so quickly the actors do an incredible job. The hospital scenes we’re really well done and relatable which was cool. We loved the hand artifact, it was so cool and such an awesome concept. It is crazy this was the debut theatrical feature film for brothers Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou. Talk to me is an instant horror classic and a must watch for horror lovers!
